Pricing Issues Reported by Users
Filmora charged me after a free trial or cancellation
The most common theme on Wondershare's Trustpilot page (3.2/5 across 11,000+ reviews) is billing: annual plans that auto-renew without a prominent reminder, charges after cancelling a trial on day one, and charges after cancellation. Several complaint sites repeat the same pattern.
Filmora's free version puts a huge watermark on every export
The free edition is fully usable for editing, but every export carries a large semi-transparent Filmora watermark across the frame. Users feel misled when sponsored YouTubers call Filmora 'free', and the watermark can't be cleanly removed later from an already-exported file.
Filmora AI features cost extra credits on top of the subscription
AI tools run on credits: the Advanced plan gets 1,000 per month and unused subscription credits are reclaimed every 30 days, while Basic doesn't list monthly AI credits at all. G2 and Onclarity reviewers object to being pushed to buy credit packs even while paying for a plan.
Filmora perpetual license doesn't include the next version
The one-time 'Perpetual' license only covers updates within the current major version (Filmora 16) and is tied to Windows or Mac, not both. When a new major version ships, perpetual buyers have to pay again to upgrade, which surprises people who assumed 'lifetime' meant all future versions.
Filmora effects and stock packs need a separate subscription
Many effects, templates and stock assets live in a separate Creative Assets add-on that renews monthly after a 7-day trial and doesn't include the software. Using locked assets in a project is one reason paid users still see a watermark on export.
