LastPass autofill not working in Chrome, Edge and Safari
Autofill stops filling, only fills the username, or the icon disappears from login fields, often right after a browser or extension update. In April 2026 a Chrome 147 change broke LastPass site launch and autofill in Chrome and Chromium-based Edge for roughly 17 days, according to outage trackers.
LastPass login outages - Edge extension release broke sign-in in March 2026
LastPass's status page logged login problems in March 2026 caused by a Microsoft Edge extension release (resolved March 25 with a published root-cause analysis), plus other login and admin-console incidents. When LastPass can't log you in, you can't reach any saved password.
Why does LastPass keep logging me out?
Community threads report the browser extension logging out every few minutes across Chrome, Edge and Firefox even with auto-logout disabled. Causes include the browser clearing cookies on exit, 'share login state between browsers', privacy extensions, and a 2026 bug where business users with the 'log out on browser close' policy were logged out unexpectedly (fixed in extension 4.152.1).
LastPass vault not loading or stuck on spinning wheel
The master password is accepted but the vault never loads, shows a spinning wheel, or logs out immediately. Corrupted local extension data, conflicting extensions (VPN, ad blockers) and server-side incidents are the usual causes.
LastPass export gives an empty CSV file
Users trying to leave LastPass report the vault export producing a 0 KB or blank CSV, menu instructions that don't match the 'new experience' UI, and form-fill data needing a separate export. Exporting from the browser extension instead of the web vault usually works.
Is LastPass safe after the 2022 breach?
In 2022 attackers got in through a developer laptop, then a senior engineer's home computer, and copied encrypted customer vault backups plus unencrypted metadata such as names, emails, phone numbers and saved site URLs. Vaults protected by weak master passwords can be brute-forced offline, and researchers have linked later cryptocurrency thefts to cracked LastPass vaults. This is the number-one reason people leave.
LastPass fined £1.2 million by UK ICO and settled class action for $24.5M
The UK Information Commissioner's Office fined LastPass UK £1.2 million in late 2025, saying its security measures were not robust enough and that up to 1.6 million UK users were affected. Separately, LastPass settled a US class action for $24.5 million over losses from the breach. The ICO said it found no evidence passwords were decrypted by LastPass's failure itself.
Forced MFA reset locked users out of their vaults
During a 2023 security upgrade LastPass forced users to log in again and re-enrol MFA. Many got stuck in reset loops and were locked out of their vaults, and because contacting support required logging in, they couldn't easily get help.
LastPass free plan only works on computer OR mobile
Since March 2021 LastPass Free is limited to one device type: computers (all desktop browsers) or mobile (phones, tablets). Switching the active type is capped, and the other category stops working. Many free users left for Bitwarden, whose free plan syncs across all devices.
LastPass refund policy - prepaid annual billing, no month-to-month
Paid personal plans are billed annually up front and LastPass treats personal payments as non-refundable; cancelling generally only stops the next renewal. Users who forget the auto-renewal or bought through the App Store or Google Play must cancel there, and LastPass support can't reverse those charges.
LastPass master password not working / account recovery fails
LastPass cannot view or reset your master password. Recovery only works through a one-time password stored on a computer where you previously used the extension, or by reverting a password change made in the last 30 days. Users report recovery links failing, new passwords being rejected after recovery, and iOS recovery erroring at the MFA step.
LastPass support hard to reach - free users get self-service only
Free accounts get self-service support only, and paying users describe slow, scripted responses, trouble finding a way to request refunds, and lost cancellation requests. Locked-out users often can't open a ticket because the support center sits behind login.
LastPass Android and iPhone autofill not working in apps
On Android the accessibility autofill service stops working on some devices (LastPass shipped fixes in app versions 4.5.2555 and 4.5.2600), and toggling it often only helps until the next day. On iPhone, users report LastPass autofill not appearing in apps even with Keychain turned off.

Free users suddenly lost access on their phone or computer after the one-device-type rule kicked in, and felt pushed into paying.
Paid annual renewal they couldn't refund
