Pricing Issues Reported by Users
Minimum 3-seat requirement forces overpaying
Monday.com requires a minimum of 3 users for all paid plans. Solo users or 2-person teams must pay for an extra seat they don't use. Users have complained 'Why pay for seats you don't even need?' and it's described as designed more for teams than individuals, leaving smaller operations paying for unused capacity.
Seats sold in buckets: a team of 6 pays for 10
Paid plans start at 3 seats and are sold in fixed buckets (3, 5, 10, 15 and up), not one seat at a time. A 6-person team must buy the 10-seat bucket, and removing two people from a 5-seat plan often changes nothing on the bill. Deactivating users does not reduce the seat count automatically.
Automation and integration limits quickly exceeded
Standard includes only 250 automation actions and 250 integration actions per month for the whole account (Pro jumps to 25,000). Each action an automation performs counts, so active boards burn through the quota in days. Monday staff say the only way to get more actions is to upgrade, and separate per-minute rate limits also stop bulk or looping automations.
Monday.com refunds only within 30 days of an annual payment
Per monday.com's refund policy, only yearly plans paid in the last 30 days get a prorated refund; monthly plans and annual plans past 30 days get nothing. Seat and plan downgrades are only scheduled for the next renewal, and Trustpilot reviewers complain about forced seat upgrades and refused tax refunds.
AI credits run out and cost extra
In 2026 monday.com moved AI to a credit model: paid work-management plans include a monthly account-wide allowance (1,000 Basic, 2,000 Standard, 3,000 Pro per the official pricing page), and extra credits are bought on top at roughly 1 cent each. The pricing FAQ itself estimates a typical 3-person team uses 800-1,200 credits a month, so heavier AI use becomes a usage-based cost.
