Asana Not Loading (Stuck on Loading Screen)
Workaround available Web, Windows, macOS Updated October 21, 2026
Quick answer
Asana stuck on the loading screen is usually caused by a browser extension, stale cache, or a firewall/VPN blocking Asana's WebSocket sync connection. Check the status page, test in an incognito window, then clear cache and cookies.
Most likely fix: Check whether Asana is down.
Symptoms
Asana hangs on the loading animation, shows a blank page, projects or tasks never finish loading, or the desktop app opens to an empty window.
Why it happens
- Asana-side outage or incident
- Browser extensions (ad blockers, privacy and script blockers)
- Corrupted cache or cookies
- Outdated or unsupported browser
- Firewall, proxy or VPN blocking WebSocket connections
- Corrupted desktop app install after an update
How to fix it
Try these in order — the most common fix is first.
1. Check whether Asana is down
- Open Asana's status page (trust.asana.com / status.asana.com)
- If there is an active incident, wait for it to be resolved - local fixes won't help
2. Test in an incognito/private window
- Open a private window in Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari
- Log in at app.asana.com
- If it loads, an extension or cached data is the cause
3. Disable browser extensions
- Open your browser's extensions page
- Turn off ad blockers, script blockers and privacy extensions
- Reload Asana and re-enable extensions one at a time to find the culprit
4. Clear cache and cookies, and update the browser
- Clear browsing history, cache and cookies for asana.com
- Update the browser to the latest version
- Try a different supported browser
5. Run Asana's connectivity (WebSocket) test
- Run the connectivity test linked from Asana's 'Troubleshoot browser & connectivity issues' help article
- If the WebSocket test fails, the network is blocking Asana's sync
6. Ask IT to allow Asana domains
- Disconnect from VPN and test again
- On corporate networks, ask IT to allow *.asana.com and *.sync.app.asana.com through the firewall/proxy
7. Reinstall the desktop app
- Quit and uninstall the Asana desktop app
- Download the latest version from asana.com and sign in again
8. Contact Asana support
- Include any error message, connectivity test results and screenshots
