Make BundleValidationError: Missing Value of Required Parameter

Workaround available Web Updated October 21, 2026

Quick answer

BundleValidationError means a module received a bundle with an empty required field or the wrong data type, usually because an earlier search returned nothing. Add a filter before the module, use ifempty(), or add a Skip error handler.

Most likely fix: Filter before the failing module.

Symptoms

Module fails with 'BundleValidationError' or 'Validation failed for 1 parameter(s): Missing value of required parameter'.

Why it happens

  • An upstream search module returned zero results
  • Mapped field is empty for some records
  • Value has the wrong type (text instead of number or date)
  • Record ID missing when updating a record (e.g. Airtable 'id')

How to fix it

Try these in order — the most common fix is first.

  1. 1. Filter before the failing module

    1. Click the link before the module
    2. Add a filter: the required field 'Exists' / is not empty
  2. 2. Provide fallbacks

    1. In the mapping, wrap the value with ifempty(value; default)
    2. Or use if() to choose a value conditionally
  3. 3. Check upstream output

    1. Open the run in History
    2. Inspect the output bundle of the previous search module
    3. Fix the search criteria if it returns no bundles
  4. 4. Skip expected failures

    1. Right-click the module > Add error handler
    2. Choose Skip (formerly Ignore) or Resume with default values

This guide also covers

  • make bundlevalidationerror
  • make missing value of required parameter
  • make validation failed for 1 parameter
