Roam Research Charged After Free Trial
Ongoing Web Updated October 21, 2026
Quick answer
Roam's trial converts to a paid plan if you don't cancel, and users report being billed for a full year. Cancel from Billing (Stripe portal) before the trial ends; refunds afterwards are not guaranteed.
Most likely fix: Cancel the subscription.
Symptoms
A charge from Roam Research appears on your card after the 1-month trial, sometimes for a full year, and support declines a refund.
Why it happens
- Trial did not get cancelled before it ended
- Paid plan chosen at signup was annual
- Roam publishes no refund policy, so refunds are at support's discretion
How to fix it
Try these in order — the most common fix is first.
1. Cancel the subscription
- Log in at roamresearch.com
- Click your email or the gear icon in the top-right corner to open account settings
- Go to Billing to see your plan and next charge date
- Click Cancel or Manage subscription to open the Stripe billing portal
- Click Cancel plan and confirm; watch for the confirmation email
2. Ask for a refund right away
- Contact Roam support as soon as you see the charge
- Include the charge date and the email on the account
- Say you did not use the service after the trial ended
3. Export before you leave
- Your graphs stay accessible until the paid period ends
- Use ••• > Export All > JSON to keep a full backup
