How to fix it

Try these in order — the most common fix is first.

  1. 1. Check archived chats

    1. Open Settings > Data controls > Archived chats
    2. Unarchive the chats you need

  2. 2. Search instead of scrolling

    1. Use the sidebar search with a word from the chat
    2. Check your Projects for moved chats

  3. 3. Open the chat by its link

    1. Find the chat URL in your browser history
    2. Open it directly - this often works even when the sidebar is empty

  4. 4. Sign out, reload or switch device

    1. Confirm the right account/workspace
    2. Sign out and back in
    3. Check the web app if a desktop or mobile app shows only recent chats

  5. 5. Export your data regularly

    1. Settings > Data controls > Export data
    2. Keep the export as a backup for important chats
