Pixelmator Pro for iPad Not Working

Symptoms

The iPad app won't open documents, asks you to subscribe, crashes, or acts up after an update.

Why it happens

• iPadOS older than 26
• Creator Studio subscription expired, or not signed in with the subscribing Apple Account
• Incompatible external drives or cameras
• Damaged source file
• Bug in the installed version

How to fix it

Try these in order — the most common fix is first.

1. 1. Check iPadOS and subscription

   1. Go to Settings > General > About and confirm iPadOS 26 or later
   2. Check Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions for an active Creator Studio plan

2. 2. Restart and disconnect devices

   1. Restart the iPad
   2. Disconnect external drives or cameras and test again

3. 3. Test with a new document

   1. Tap Create a Document > Basic Square Post > Create
   2. Export as PNG and reopen it. If that works, get a new copy of your original file

4. 4. Back up, then reinstall

   1. Export your documents or back up the iPad first
   2. Delete Pixelmator Pro, redownload it from the App Store, then test with a template
