Proton Pass Not Working? Common Errors & Fixes

Usually the saved login's URL doesn't match the page, the extension is locked or lacks site access, or the browser's own password manager is competing for the field. Fix the URL, unlock the extension, disable the built-in manager and fill manually on multi-step forms.

Set Proton Pass as the preferred Passwords, passkeys & accounts service, then toggle it off and on. In Brave and GrapheneOS Vanadium the popup often doesn't appear at all; switching the autofill provider back and forth or restarting the browser is the only workaround users report.

The save-login prompt sometimes doesn't appear or captures only the username or password. Turn off the browser's own password saving, keep the extension unlocked, and add the login manually when the prompt is missed.

Reload or update the extension, then sign out and back in. Clearing browser site data signs the extension out. If you're locked out entirely, a signed-in reset from a device that's still logged in lets you change your password.

If items show in one app but not another, force a manual sync. The option is under Profile > Settings > Force synchronization on mobile and Advanced > Manually sync your data on desktop, web and the extension.

A blank vault on Android is usually caused by active filters. Reset filters from the three-dot menu; if it's still blank, force a sync from Profile > Settings.

Edge's Enhanced Security Mode disables WebAssembly, which the Proton Pass extension and web app need. Add pass.proton.me to the sites that never use enhanced security.

Apple's Lockdown Mode disables WebAssembly, which Proton Pass needs. Turn Lockdown Mode off for pass.proton.me only in Safari's website settings.
