Coda Not Working? Common Errors & Fixes

This error means your doc's uncompressed data has passed Coda's ~125 MB limit for API and cross-doc access. The doc still opens, but syncs, API calls and Packs stop until you shrink it, mainly by cutting button columns, conditional formatting and cross-doc references.

This warning appears when a doc approaches or exceeds the size at which API, cross-doc and Pack features become unreliable (~125 MB). Coda says limits did not change; it only started warning. Reduce doc size before features actually stop.

Coda is usually slow because of heavy calculations: big tables, conditional formatting, formulas spanning multiple tables, lookups, error cells or Pack formula columns. Use the Calculation Performance Analyzer to find the worst formulas and simplify them.

When a Coda doc spins forever or shows a blank page, first check the status page, then rule out your browser and network. Very heavy docs may just need time to finish calculating.

Coda automations usually stop because the rule's owner left the workspace, an If condition isn't met, data like an email address is missing, or the rule updates a cross-doc/Pack table. Check the rule's activity log and red failure markers first.

Pack sync tables usually stop syncing because the Pack account connection expired or lacks permission, one row error halted a two-way sync, or the sync times out on large attachments. Reconnect the account and remove heavy columns.

"Cross-Doc couldn't receive edits from Coda. Try again in a few minutes" is usually transient and clears after retries. If it keeps happening, the source or target doc may be too large for cross-doc.

Since Coda 4.0 only Doc Makers can create pages, so editors see Add page disabled. Doc or page locking also greys it out until a Maker unlocks the doc.

Coda has no full offline mode. You can keep working in a doc that was already open before you lost connection, and edits sync when you reconnect, but you can't open docs offline.

The Coda mobile app loads the full desktop doc, so heavy docs can take 30+ seconds to open and some users report crashes when editing on iOS. Lighter mobile-specific docs and a stable connection help most.

According to Coda's Pack troubleshooting guide, Gmail Send Email failures are usually caused by a missing recipient in the To field or a badly formatted address in the formula, not a broken Pack.
