How to Cancel NordVPN Auto-Renewal
Workaround available Web, iOS, Android, Amazon Updated October 21, 2026
Quick answer
Auto-renewal is on by default and renews at a much higher price. Turn it off in Nord Account > Billing (or in the App Store, Google Play or Amazon if you bought there) well before the renewal date, and check the confirmation email.
Most likely fix: Cancel a direct NordVPN subscription.
Symptoms
You want to avoid the renewal charge ($139.08/year for Basic, $219.48/year for Complete) or were charged after you thought you had cancelled.
Why it happens
- Auto-renewal enabled by default at checkout
- Subscription bought through an app store, so cancelling in Nord Account doesn't apply
- Cancelling too close to the renewal date (Apple requires at least 24 hours)
- Reminder email missed or filtered
How to fix it
Try these in order — the most common fix is first.
1. Cancel a direct NordVPN subscription
- Log in at my.nordaccount.com
- Open the Billing tab
- Click Cancel next to auto-renewal and confirm
- Keep the confirmation email; the service runs until the paid period ends
2. Cancel an App Store subscription
- On iPhone, open Settings > your name > Subscriptions
- Select NordVPN and tap Cancel Subscription
- Do it at least 24 hours before the period ends
3. Cancel a Google Play or Amazon subscription
- Open the Play Store > profile > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions, or Amazon Your Memberships & Subscriptions
- Select NordVPN and cancel
4. Re-check before the renewal date
- A week before renewal, log in to Billing again and confirm auto-renewal still shows as off
- Users report the setting being re-enabled, so take a screenshot as proof
