How to Exclude Your Own Visits in Plausible
Workaround available Web Updated October 21, 2026
Quick answer
Use Site settings > Shields to block your IP addresses (both IPv4 and IPv6), or set the browser localStorage flag if your IP changes. WordPress users can exclude roles in the plugin.
Most likely fix: Block your IPs.
Symptoms
Your own testing inflates visitor counts, or exclusions don't work on some devices.
Why it happens
- Only IPv4 blocked while the device also uses IPv6
- Changing IP / VPN
- Shield limit of 30 entries and no IP ranges
How to fix it
Try these in order — the most common fix is first.
1. Block your IPs
- Go to Site settings > Shields > IP Addresses
- Click Add IP Address and use the button to add your current one
- Repeat for your IPv6 address
- Changes take effect within a few minutes
2. Use the localStorage exclusion
- Follow Plausible's 'exclude your own visits' guide to set the ignore flag in each browser you use
- Repeat on every device and browser
3. WordPress role exclusion
- In the Plausible plugin, choose which user roles are tracked
- Leave Administrator unticked
