Plausible Pageview Limit Exceeded (Dashboard Locked)
Workaround available Web Updated October 21, 2026
Quick answer
Exceeding your tier once is ignored, but two consecutive months over the limit triggers an upgrade notice, and the dashboard locks if you don't upgrade within a week. Stats keep being collected and unlock when you upgrade or usage drops.
Most likely fix: Check what counts.
Symptoms
Warnings in Account Settings > Subscription, an upgrade email, or a locked dashboard.
Why it happens
- Pageviews plus custom events across all team sites exceed the tier
- Heavy custom event tracking (scroll, clicks) counting toward usage
- Bot or spam traffic spikes
How to fix it
Try these in order — the most common fix is first.
1. Check what counts
- Open Account Settings > Subscription
- Review billable pageviews for the last 30 days
- Remember custom events count; pageview goals do not
2. Block junk traffic
- Go to Site settings > Shields
- Block offending countries, IPs (max 30 entries, no ranges) or pages
- Use the Hostnames allowlist so only your real domains are recorded; blocked visits don't count toward usage
3. Upgrade or wait
- Upgrade from the plan page (prorated) to unlock immediately
- Or wait for the next billing cycle; dashboards unlock automatically if usage is back within limits
