Reflect Audio Memo Transcription Not Working

Reflect transcribes audio memos with Whisper in the background, and the text appears in your daily note after a few minutes. If it doesn't, update the desktop app to version 2.0.5 or later and restart your computer, which Reflect says clears a permission issue. On Mac, raw recordings are cached so you can recover them.

The recording uploads but no transcript appears in the daily note, the record button doesn't work, or names come out wrong.

How to fix it

Try these in order — the most common fix is first.

  1. 1. Update the desktop app

    1. Check you're on Reflect desktop 2.0.5 or later
    2. Update and relaunch

    1. Quit Reflect and restart the Mac or PC
    2. Record a short test memo

  3. 3. Recover the raw recording (Mac)

    1. In Finder, press Cmd+Shift+G
    2. Enter ~/Library/Caches/app.reflect.AudioRecorder/
    3. Find the cached audio file and re-upload it

  4. 4. Improve accuracy for names

    1. Go to reflect.app/preferences/profile
    2. Add helper text with names and terms you often say
