Splice Not Working? Common Errors & Fixes

A stuck blue export bar in Splice is usually caused by a problem clip (GoPro files, media not shot on the phone), speed changes or transitions, iCloud-only media or low storage. Update the app, free space, and remove or convert media one item at a time.

Splice needs roughly twice the size of the final video in free storage because it creates temporary files while exporting. Free more space on the phone itself or lower the export resolution and frame rate.

Splice crashes are usually caused by low storage, outdated iOS or app versions, long high-resolution projects, or media the app cannot read. Reboot, update, free space and convert or remove problem clips. Do not uninstall: that deletes your projects.

When Splice spins forever on a new project or import, the cause is usually media it cannot read (WhatsApp/AirDrop files, clips edited in other apps) or files stored only in iCloud. Download originals to the phone and convert unreadable clips.

Splice does not store copies of your media; it links to files in the Camera Roll. If a clip was deleted or moved, the project shows a missing asset. Restore the file from Recently Deleted or a backup and the project works again.

If Splice will not save a project, either it uses Pro features that need a subscription, or storage or media problems are blocking the save. Remove Pro elements or subscribe, then free space and update the app.

Splice shows LRM000, RMM000 or RMA002 when opening the app on an outdated version. Updating Splice from the App Store or Google Play fixes it.

Splice auto captions only work with English audio, can fail on clips longer than 10 minutes, and are not available on Android. Update the app and split long clips.

Splice only exports audio that sits under a clip or blank frame. If the music runs past your last clip, that part is dropped. Add a blank frame at the end and stretch it to the music length.

Splice can only use songs purchased on iTunes that are not DRM-protected. Apple Music streams and tracks with a copyright symbol will not appear; purchased songs show up once iTunes shows a Play button instead of Purchased.

Splice stores projects inside the app, so uninstalling it or deleting a project removes it for good and support cannot recover it. Your only options are exported copies in the Camera Roll, social media or cloud backups.

Splice cannot cancel or refund App Store subscriptions; cancel in your Apple ID settings and request refunds from Apple. Google Play subscriptions are cancelled in Google Play, and web purchases through the link emailed to you.

Restore Purchase only works when you are signed in with the same Apple ID or Google account that bought the plan, and it does not work between iOS and Android.
