Splice Can't Save Project
Workaround available iOS, Android Updated October 21, 2026
Quick answer
If Splice will not save a project, either it uses Pro features that need a subscription, or storage or media problems are blocking the save. Remove Pro elements or subscribe, then free space and update the app.
Most likely fix: Check for Pro features.
Symptoms
Tapping save does nothing, shows an error, or prompts you to subscribe.
Why it happens
- Project uses Pro-only effects, music or captions
- Low device storage
- Problem or missing media
- Outdated app version
How to fix it
Try these in order — the most common fix is first.
1. Check for Pro features
- Look for Pro badges on effects, music or captions you added
- Remove them or subscribe to save the project
2. Free storage and update
- Free space in Settings > General > iPhone Storage
- Update Splice and iOS, then restart
3. Fix problem media
- Make sure all clips are on the device, not only in iCloud
- Remove assets one by one to find the one blocking the save
