Tana Google Calendar Sync Not Working

Calendar sync needs a paid Tana Outliner plan, AI credits and a single Google account connected to your private workspace. Run 'Force calendar sync' on the day node, and if events still don't appear, reset the integration in Settings > Google Calendar settings > General config.

Symptoms

Meetings don't show on your day page, new events never appear, events appear untagged, or edits you made in Tana disappear.

Why it happens

  • Free plan (calendar sync is paid-only)
  • Out of AI credits needed to classify events
  • Wrong Google account or calendar selected
  • Only one week of events synced at a time
  • Sync is one-way so edits made in Tana are overwritten
  • Outlook calendars aren't supported

How to fix it

Try these in order — the most common fix is first.

  1. 1. Force a sync

    1. Open the day or week node
    2. Run 'Force calendar sync' on the node title
    3. Navigate to other days to trigger syncing of those weeks

  2. 2. Check plan and AI credits

    1. Confirm you're on Plus or Pro
    2. Check your remaining AI credits; event classification uses them
    3. Top up credits from web or desktop if needed

  3. 3. Pick the right account and calendar

    1. Go to Settings > Google Calendar settings > General config
    2. Select the calendar you want to sync
    3. For a second account, share that calendar with your primary Google account with 'make changes and manage sharing'

  4. 4. Reset the integration

    1. Settings > Google Calendar settings > General config > reset
    2. Choose whether to keep existing events (edited events are always kept)
    3. Reconnect via the Google Calendar icon on the day node and grant all permissions

  5. 5. Edit events in Google Calendar, not Tana

    1. Names, times, attendees and descriptions are overwritten on each sync
    2. Change them in Google Calendar, or use a title expression on the Meeting tag
