Tana Mobile App Can't Edit Notes

Ongoing iOS, Android Updated October 21, 2026

Quick answer

Full node editing on mobile is still an Early Access feature: on iOS 1.4.3 or newer turn it on in the Manage tab. Android has fewer features, and existing notes can't be opened offline on either platform.

Most likely fix: Turn on node editing.

Symptoms

You can browse and capture on your phone but can't edit existing nodes, views are missing, some searches return nothing, or notes don't load offline.

Why it happens

  • Node editing not enabled (Early Access)
  • App older than iOS 1.4.3
  • Android missing features iOS has
  • Complex searches need the full graph
  • No connection (mobile can't read notes offline)

How to fix it

Try these in order — the most common fix is first.

  1. 1. Turn on node editing

    1. Update the iOS app to 1.4.3 or newer
    2. Open the Manage tab
    3. Enable the Early Access node editing option
    4. Tap a node's content to enter edit mode
  2. 2. Use Capture for quick notes

    1. Open the Capture tab
    2. Write, record a voice memo or add a photo
    3. Send it to Today, Inbox or a pinned node and refine on desktop
  3. 3. Check sync and report bugs

    1. Manage > Sync history shows captured content
    2. Manage > Report bug to send details to Tana
  4. 4. Buy AI top-ups on desktop

    1. Credit top-ups can't be bought through Apple subscriptions
    2. Buy them on web or desktop
