Bitwarden iOS AutoFill Not Working

Workaround available iOS, iPadOS Updated October 21, 2026

Quick answer

Most often Apple Passwords (or another manager) is also enabled as an AutoFill provider, or an iOS/app update broke the extension. Make Bitwarden the only AutoFill provider, update, and reinstall if needed.

Most likely fix: Make Bitwarden the only AutoFill provider.

Symptoms

No Bitwarden suggestions in the keyboard bar, only passkey prompts appear, or tapping Passwords opens Bitwarden but no match is suggested.

Why it happens

  • Apple Passwords and Bitwarden both enabled for AutoFill
  • Recent iOS or Bitwarden update
  • Login item URI doesn't match the site or app
  • Bitwarden extension locked with PIN/biometrics not set up

How to fix it

Try these in order — the most common fix is first.

  1. 1. Make Bitwarden the only AutoFill provider

    1. Open iOS Settings > General > AutoFill & Passwords
    2. Turn on AutoFill Passwords and Passkeys
    3. Select Bitwarden and turn off Passwords (and any other manager)
  2. 2. Update and restart

    1. Update Bitwarden from the App Store and update iOS
    2. Restart the iPhone
    3. Open the Bitwarden app once and unlock it
  3. 3. Check the item's URI

    1. Open the login in Bitwarden and confirm the website URI matches the site's domain
    2. Save and try again from the keyboard's key icon
  4. 4. Reinstall Bitwarden

    1. Make sure your vault is synced and you know your master password
    2. Delete the app, reinstall it, log in and re-enable it in AutoFill settings
