KineMaster Lagging and Choppy Preview

KineMaster lags when the project exceeds the phone's layer and resolution capacity, or uses screen recordings and clips from other devices. Re-encode those clips, cut layers, free storage and restart.

Preview stutters or freezes, trimming and font changes are slow, the app becomes sluggish on long projects or after an update.
Why it happens
- Screen recordings or clips from other devices (official known cause of choppy preview)
- Too many video layers or too high a resolution for the device
- Many short photo clips in a long project
- Low storage or many background apps
- A buggy app update
How to fix it
Try these in order — the most common fix is first.
1. Re-encode screen recordings and outside footage
- Re-encode the clip with KineMaster
- Import the new file into the project and delete the original
2. Check your device's capability
- Settings > Device Capability Information shows how many layers at which resolution the device supports
- If numbers look wrong, close all apps and tap three-dot menu > Run Analysis Now
3. Restart the phone with no other apps open
- Restart the phone
- Open only KineMaster
4. Split long projects
- Export finished sections and re-import them into a new project as single clips
- This reduces the number of clips and layers KineMaster has to preview
5. Free storage and update
- Keep several GB free
- Install the latest KineMaster version
