KineMaster Media Missing: Slanted Lines on Timeline
Workaround available Android, iOS Updated October 21, 2026
Quick answer
Slanted lines or a missing-file warning on a clip mean KineMaster can't find the original file because it was moved, renamed or deleted. Put the file back or use Replace.
Most likely fix: Move the file back.
Symptoms
Clips on the timeline are filled with slanted lines or show an exclamation/question mark, and KineMaster says files are missing.
Why it happens
- Source file moved to another folder
- File renamed or deleted from the gallery
- File moved to an SD card or cloud and removed from the phone
How to fix it
Try these in order — the most common fix is first.
1. Move the file back
- Return the photo or video to its original folder with its original name
- Reopen the project
2. Replace the missing clip
- Select the clip on the timeline
- Tap Replace and choose the file from its new location
3. Prevent it next time
- Don't move or delete source media until the project is exported
- Keep media duplication enabled in Settings > Editing if you clean up your gallery often (uses more storage)
