Basecamp Not Loading or Not Working
Workaround available Web (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge) Updated October 21, 2026
Quick answer
Basecamp failing to load in a browser is usually a VPN, a browser extension or stale cookies. Check the status page, turn off the VPN, try a private window, then clear basecamp.com cookies and cache.
Most likely fix: Rule out an outage.
Symptoms
Pages hang, stay blank, images look broken or features stop responding in the browser, while Basecamp works for colleagues.
Why it happens
- A Basecamp outage
- VPN interfering with the connection
- Browser extensions such as uBlock Origin, Grammarly or TamperMonkey
- Corrupt cache or cookies
- An unsupported or beta browser version
How to fix it
Try these in order — the most common fix is first.
1. Rule out an outage
- Check status.basecamp.com or the @37signals X account for an active incident
- If there is one, wait it out; 2026 incidents mostly lasted from under a minute to about 25 minutes
2. Turn off your VPN
- Disconnect the VPN
- Reload Basecamp
3. Test in a private window
- Open an Incognito/Private window (most extensions are off there)
- Log in to Basecamp
- If it works, disable extensions one at a time, starting with ad blockers, privacy tools, Grammarly and script managers
4. Clear cache and cookies (Chrome)
- Chrome > Delete browsing data
- Time range: All time
- Check Cached images and files and Cookies and other site data
- Click Delete data
5. Clear cache and cookies (Safari)
- Safari > Settings > Advanced > enable Show features for web developers
- Develop > Empty Caches
- Safari > Settings > Privacy > Manage Website Data, search basecamp.com and 37signals.com, Remove, Done
6. Update your browser
- Basecamp needs Chrome 120+, Edge 105+, Safari 17.2+ or Firefox 121+
- Avoid beta or pre-release browser builds
