Basecamp Notifications Not Working

Workaround available Web, Desktop, iOS, Android Updated October 21, 2026

Quick answer

Basecamp email and phone notifications are controlled separately, and Work Can Wait or Focus Mode silence them. In Basecamp 5, notifications and pings also moved into the 'New For You' sidebar, which is easy to miss.

Most likely fix: Check notification settings.

Symptoms

You stop getting Basecamp emails or push notifications, or miss pings that used to be obvious after the Basecamp 5 update.

Why it happens

  • Email and phone notification settings are separate
  • Work Can Wait or Focus Mode is on
  • Notification setting limited to Pings and @mentions
  • Basecamp emails filtered to spam
  • Basecamp 5 moved notifications into the New For You sidebar

How to fix it

Try these in order — the most common fix is first.

  1. 1. Check notification settings

    1. Click your avatar (top right)
    2. Open your notification settings
    3. Confirm email and phone/app notifications are both enabled, and not restricted to only Pings and @mentions
  2. 2. Turn off Work Can Wait / Focus Mode

    1. Work Can Wait silences notifications outside your work hours
    2. Focus Mode turns them off for the day; turn it off manually if needed
  3. 3. Check spam and filters

    1. Search your spam folder for Basecamp emails
    2. Mark them as not spam or add a filter to always deliver them
  4. 4. Use the New For You sidebar

    1. In Basecamp 5, open the New For You sidebar to see all notifications and pings in one place
  5. 5. Check phone permissions

    1. Make sure notifications are allowed for the Basecamp app in your phone's system settings
