Basecamp "You've Been Blocked" Error

Workaround available Web, Desktop, Mobile Updated October 21, 2026

Quick answer

This page appears when Basecamp's security systems block your IP address, almost always a shared VPN IP. Switch your VPN to another server; if you aren't on a VPN, contact support.

Most likely fix: Switch VPN server.

Symptoms

Basecamp shows a page saying "You've been blocked" instead of your account.

Why it happens

  • Your VPN shares an IP address with someone whose activity looked suspicious
  • Basecamp's automated security blocked that IP

How to fix it

Try these in order — the most common fix is first.

  1. 1. Switch VPN server

    1. Open your VPN app
    2. Connect to a different server or location to get a new IP
    3. Reload Basecamp; access is usually restored right away
  2. 2. Try several locations

    1. If still blocked, try two or three more VPN locations
  3. 3. Contact support

    1. If nothing works, or you aren't using a VPN, contact Basecamp support at basecamp.com/support so they can unblock you
    2. Note: Basecamp can't permanently allowlist VPN IP addresses
