Craft Documents Missing or Disappeared

Quick answer

Missing Craft documents are almost always on another account or space: Sign in with Apple and email login create separate accounts. Check the account email, switch spaces, and look in Recently Deleted (kept 30 days).

Symptoms

After logging in on a new device or reinstalling, Craft shows an empty workspace or some documents are gone even though sync says everything is up to date.

Why it happens

  • Signed in with Apple on one device and email on another (two separate accounts)
  • Changed your email, so Apple sign-in now opens a new empty account
  • Looking at a different space
  • Documents deleted more than 30 days ago

How to fix it

Try these in order — the most common fix is first.

  1. 1. Check which account you are on

    1. Open Settings > Account and note the email
    2. If it ends in @privaterelay.appleid.com you used Sign in with Apple
    3. Sign out and sign in with the other method to find your documents

  2. 2. Switch spaces

    1. Click the space name at the top of the sidebar
    2. Open each space and check for the documents

  3. 3. Look in Recently Deleted

    1. Open Recently Deleted in the sidebar
    2. Restore the documents; items older than 30 days or manually emptied are gone

  4. 4. If Apple sign-in opens an empty account after an email change

    1. Sign in with your email and a login code instead
    2. To relink Apple: Settings > Account > Email Address > Continue with Apple (the new empty account must be deleted first; accounts cannot be merged)

  5. 5. Don't reset sync to look for content

    1. Avoid Reset Sync Now — it can discard unsynced changes
    2. Contact Craft support from Settings > Diagnostics if documents are still missing
