ExpressVPN Router 'Looks Like You're Not Connected'

Workaround available Aircove, Asus, Linksys, Netgear routers Updated October 21, 2026

Quick answer

You can't reach the dashboard of a router running ExpressVPN. Make sure you're on that router's Wi-Fi or LAN, turn off other VPNs, iCloud Private Relay and browser Secure DNS, or open the router by IP address.

Most likely fix: Connect to the right network.

Symptoms

Opening the ExpressVPN router dashboard shows 'Looks like you're not connected.'

Why it happens

  • Device is on a different Wi-Fi network or using Ethernet and Wi-Fi at once
  • Another VPN app is running on the device
  • iCloud Private Relay or browser Secure DNS bypasses the router's DNS

How to fix it

Try these in order — the most common fix is first.

  1. 1. Connect to the right network

    1. Wi-Fi: join the router running ExpressVPN and unplug Ethernet
    2. LAN: connect by Ethernet and turn Wi-Fi off
  2. 2. Turn off conflicting services

    1. Disconnect any VPN app or manual VPN on the device
    2. On iPhone/Mac, turn off iCloud Private Relay
    3. In your browser settings, turn off Secure DNS / DNS over HTTPS
  3. 3. Open the dashboard by IP

    1. Try 192.168.132.1, 192.168.142.1, 192.168.1.1, 192.168.21.1 or 192.168.42.1
    2. If none load, restart the router and try again
