Filmora Export Failed
Workaround available Windows, Mac Updated October 21, 2026
Quick answer
Filmora exports usually fail because of low disk space, an outdated GPU driver, hardware acceleration conflicts or output settings that don't match the footage. Update Filmora and your graphics driver, free disk space, toggle GPU acceleration and export with a built-in preset.
Most likely fix: Update Filmora.
Symptoms
Export stops partway, shows a generic error, hangs at a percentage, or Filmora closes during export. Sometimes only long or 4K projects fail.
Why it happens
- Not enough free disk space (often filled by old render files)
- Outdated NVIDIA, AMD or Intel graphics driver
- Hardware acceleration not working on your GPU
- Output settings that don't match the source (resolution, frame rate)
- Very large, high-resolution projects on limited RAM
- Corrupted source clips
- Outdated Filmora build
How to fix it
Try these in order — the most common fix is first.
1. Update Filmora
- Open Help > Check for Update
- Install the latest build and restart the PC
- Export again
2. Update your graphics driver
- Press Start, type dxdiag and press Enter
- On the Display tab note your GPU model and driver date
- Download the newest driver from NVIDIA, AMD or Intel (laptops: from the laptop maker's site)
- Restart and export again
3. Toggle hardware acceleration
- Go to File > Preferences > Performance
- If acceleration is on, untick 'Enable Hardware Acceleration for video rendering and playback' and 'for video decoding' and try exporting
- If it was off, turn both on and click Apply
4. Free up disk space and delete render files
- Go to File > Delete Preview Render Files
- Make sure the export drive has several GB free
- Optionally enable 'Automatically delete render files when a project file is closed' under File > Preferences > Media Cache
5. Use a built-in export preset
- In the Export window pick a preset such as YouTube or MP4
- Keep the frame rate the same as your source footage
- Export again
6. Close background programs
- Quit browsers, games and other editors during export
- Retry the export
