Filmora Not Opening on Windows 11

Workaround available Windows Updated October 21, 2026

Quick answer

If Filmora won't launch or closes at startup, update your graphics driver, allow Filmora in your antivirus, then repair or reinstall it from the official installer. Back up your project folders first.

Most likely fix: Find the real error in Event Viewer.

Symptoms

Double-clicking Filmora does nothing, the splash screen appears and disappears, or Windows shows an error at launch.

Why it happens

  • Outdated graphics driver
  • Antivirus or firewall blocking Filmora files
  • Damaged or incomplete installation
  • Older Filmora builds not fully compatible with newer Windows 11 updates

How to fix it

Try these in order — the most common fix is first.

  1. 1. Find the real error in Event Viewer

    1. Open Event Viewer > Windows Logs > Application
    2. Find the error logged when Filmora failed to start
    3. Note the faulting module (e.g. a GPU driver DLL) to target the fix
  2. 2. Update Windows and the graphics driver

    1. Run Windows Update
    2. Install the latest driver for your GPU from the vendor's site
    3. Restart and launch Filmora
  3. 3. Allow Filmora in your antivirus

    1. Add the Filmora install folder as an exception in your antivirus
    2. Try launching again
  4. 4. Back up projects, then repair or reinstall

    1. Copy your project folders and source media to another location
    2. Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Filmora > Modify/Repair if available
    3. Otherwise uninstall, reboot and reinstall from filmora.wondershare.com
  5. 5. Update an old Filmora X install

    1. Legacy builds may not support current Windows 11 updates
    2. Install the current Filmora version
