How to Uninstall Krisp Completely (Keeps Starting at Login)

Workaround available Windows, macOS Updated October 21, 2026

Quick answer

Krisp installs virtual audio drivers and relaunches at login, so dragging it to the Trash isn't enough. Quit it, run the Krisp Uninstaller (Mac) or remove it in Windows Apps, then restart.

Most likely fix: Stop it launching at startup.

Symptoms

Krisp reopens after every restart, Krisp Microphone/Speaker still appear in sound settings after deleting the app, or a Krisp calendar window loads at startup.

Why it happens

  • Krisp registered as a login/startup item
  • Virtual audio driver left behind
  • App deleted without the bundled uninstaller

How to fix it

Try these in order — the most common fix is first.

  1. 1. Stop it launching at startup

    1. Mac: System Settings > General > Login Items > remove Krisp
    2. Windows: Task Manager > Startup apps > Krisp > Disable
  2. 2. Uninstall on Mac

    1. Quit Krisp from the menu bar
    2. Run the Krisp Uninstaller that ships with the app
    3. Check /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/HAL for leftover Krisp files and restart the Mac
  3. 3. Uninstall on Windows

    1. Quit Krisp from the tray
    2. Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Krisp > Uninstall
    3. Restart, then check Sound settings that Krisp devices are gone
  4. 4. Cancel the subscription separately

    1. Uninstalling doesn't cancel billing - downgrade in your krisp.ai account (Settings > Billing)
