Lattice Slack Integration Not Working

Workaround available Slack Updated October 21, 2026

Quick answer

Lattice's Slack app fails most often because a user's Slack email doesn't match their Lattice email, the bot isn't in a private channel, or the channel is admin-only. Long posts over Slack's 3,000-character limit also fail; for Slackbot/MCP features, disconnect and reconnect.

Most likely fix: Match emails.

Symptoms

Praise, updates or reminders don't post to Slack, users don't get Lattice DMs, or Slackbot can't answer Lattice questions.

Why it happens

  • Slack email differs from Lattice email
  • Lattice bot not invited to a private channel
  • Channel restricted to admin-only posting
  • Message over Slack's 3,000-character limit
  • Integration set up without admin rights on both sides
  • Old connection lacks newer MCP authorization

How to fix it

Try these in order — the most common fix is first.

  1. 1. Match emails

    1. Make sure each user's Slack email is the same as their Lattice email
  2. 2. Invite the bot to private channels

    1. In the private channel type @lattice and send
    2. Confirm the Slackbot prompt to add the app
  3. 3. Use a channel the app can post to

    1. Change the channel's posting permission from admin-only, or pick another channel
  4. 4. Reconnect the integration

    1. Have someone who is admin in both Lattice and Slack, logged into Slack in the browser, reconnect the integration
    2. For Slackbot/AI features, disconnect and reconnect Lattice in Slackbot's app settings, then start a new conversation
