Linear Free Plan 250 Issue Limit Reached
Ongoing Web, macOS, Windows Updated October 21, 2026
Quick answer
Linear Free allows 250 issues and 2 teams. With more than 250 issues you can't create new ones until you upgrade or get back under the limit. Nothing is deleted.
Most likely fix: Upgrade to Basic.
Symptoms
You can no longer create issues on a Free workspace, or after cancelling a paid plan.
Why it happens
- Workspace has more than 250 issues on Free
- Paid plan cancelled or expired while over 250 issues
How to fix it
Try these in order — the most common fix is first.
1. Upgrade to Basic
- Settings > Administration > Billing
- Choose Basic ($10/user/month billed yearly) or start monthly
2. Reduce the issue count
- Delete duplicate or obsolete issues (e.g. junk from imports) until the workspace is within the Free limit
3. Undo a recent import
- Settings > Import/Export
- Open the overflow menu on the import and choose Delete (only available for a limited time)
