Linear GitHub Integration Stopped Working
Workaround available Web Updated October 21, 2026
Quick answer
The GitHub App is installed per organization and one GitHub org can connect to only one Linear workspace. After moving repos or orgs, reinstall the app, reselect repos and reconnect personal accounts.
Most likely fix: Check status pages first.
Symptoms
PR linking, status automation or GitHub Issues Sync suddenly stop after a repo transfer, org change or permission change.
Why it happens
- Repo moved to a different GitHub org without the app installed
- Installer's access revoked so the app lost permissions
- GitHub org already connected to another Linear workspace
- GitHub or Linear webhook outage
How to fix it
Try these in order — the most common fix is first.
1. Check status pages first
- Open linearstatus.com and githubstatus.com
- Wait if there's an active incident
2. Reinstall on the new org
- Settings > Features > Integrations > GitHub > Enable
- Select the org and repos, then Install
3. Reconnect personal accounts
- Each member: Settings > Connected accounts > GitHub
4. Reset and reconnect
- Disconnect Linear in GitHub
- Visit linear.app/reset
- Reconnect from Linear settings; contact support@linear.app if it still fails
