Linear Slack Links Not Unfurling

Why it happens

  • Slack 'Show text previews of linked websites' disabled
  • Issue belongs to a private team (never unfurls)
  • Linear Asks installed before the Slack integration
  • Private channel without the Linear bot invited
  • User is a Slack guest (can't use apps)

How to fix it

Try these in order — the most common fix is first.

  1. 1. Turn on link previews

    1. Slack Preferences > Messages & Media > In-line media and links
    2. Enable 'Show text previews of linked websites'

  2. 2. Invite the bot to private channels

    1. Run /invite @Linear in the channel

  3. 3. Reconnect Slack and Asks in order

    1. Disconnect Slack and Asks in Linear
    2. Remove Asks from Slack Tools & settings > Manage apps
    3. Reconnect Slack in Linear settings, then reconnect Asks and re-add templates
