Linear Jira Import Missing Issues or Fields
Workaround available Web Updated October 21, 2026
Quick answer
Linear maps source data to its closest concept and skips what doesn't translate. Re-importing into the same team skips issues already imported; delete the first import before retrying.
Most likely fix: Check you have the right permissions.
Symptoms
After importing from Jira (or Asana, Shortcut, GitHub), some fields, statuses or issues are missing, or a second import does nothing.
Why it happens
- Field has no Linear equivalent
- Re-import into the same team skips already-imported issues
- Target is a sub-team that inherits parent workflow statuses
- You're not a Linear Admin or lack permissions in the source tool
How to fix it
Try these in order — the most common fix is first.
1. Check you have the right permissions
- Use a Linear Admin account
- Use a Jira account with access to all projects you import
2. Import into a regular team
- Imports can't target sub-teams that inherit workflow statuses; pick or create a top-level team
3. Delete and re-run the import
- Settings > Import/Export
- Overflow menu on the import > Delete
- Run the importer again
4. Contact support for supported fields
- If a documented property didn't import, email support@linear.app
