Trello Attachment Upload Failed
Workaround available Web, Desktop, iOS, Android Updated October 21, 2026
Quick answer
On the free plan files over 10MB can't be uploaded; paid plans allow 250MB per file. Large uploads can also time out, so compress files or link them from cloud storage.
Most likely fix: Check the size limit.
Symptoms
Upload spinner never finishes, error after selecting a file, videos from iPhone fail, 500 errors when uploading many files at once.
Why it happens
- File over 10MB on a free Workspace or over 250MB on paid
- Large files timing out in the browser or iOS app
- iPhone HEVC video format
- Uploading many attachments at once
- Unstable connection
How to fix it
Try these in order — the most common fix is first.
1. Check the size limit
- Free: 10MB per file; Standard and above: 250MB per file
2. Compress or split the file
- Zip documents or export video at a lower resolution
3. Link from cloud storage instead
- Upload to Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive and attach the link (or use their Power-Up)
4. Upload from a desktop browser
- For iPhone videos that fail in the app, move the file to a computer and attach it via the web
5. Upload fewer files at a time
- Add attachments in small batches
