Trello Slow or Lagging

Symptoms

Boards take a long time to open, typing and dragging cards lag by seconds, the browser tab freezes on one specific board.

Why it happens

• Too many open cards, lists or attachments on one board
• Many Power-Ups loading content on each card
• Browser extensions or an old browser
• Trello-side performance incidents

How to fix it

Try these in order — the most common fix is first.

1. 1. Count your open cards

   1. Open the board Filter and type * in the keyword field
   2. The total number of cards appears at the top of the results

2. 2. Archive finished cards

   1. Use the list menu (•••) > Archive all cards in this list for Done lists
   2. Archived cards stay searchable

3. 3. Archive unused lists

   1. List menu > Archive list — it stops loading but can be restored

4. 4. Split the board

   1. Create a new board and move lists to it (list menu > Move list)

5. 5. Disable Power-Ups you don't use

   1. Board header > Power-Ups > remove unused ones

6. 6. Test another browser or device

   1. If only one browser is slow, clear its cache and disable extensions
