Trello Comments and Activity Missing on Cards

Quick answer
Since the redesign, comments live in a separate Comments and Activity panel opened from a button on the card. If comments vanished for everyone, it's usually a Trello incident (e.g. May 2026).
Most likely fix: Open the Comments panel.
Symptoms
No comment box on the card back, comment count shows on the card front but nothing inside, activity history gone.
Why it happens
- New card back moved comments behind a Comments button
- Trello incident affecting comments (reported May 17, 2026)
- Board saved as a template hides activity
- Comments made in a list that was later deleted
How to fix it
Try these in order — the most common fix is first.
1. Open the Comments panel
- Open the card and click the Comments button to show the Comments and Activity panel
2. Check for an incident
- Look at trello.status.atlassian.com and recent Atlassian Community posts
3. Convert a template board back to a normal board
- If the board is a template, turn the template setting off (or copy the board) — note copying drops members
4. Refresh or try another browser
- Hard-refresh with Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+R
