Trello Board Limit on Free Plan (Can't Create Board)

Symptoms

The Create board option is disabled or shows an upgrade prompt; you can't reopen a closed board; on Premium/Enterprise you can't create boards at all.

Why it happens

• Free Workspace already has 10 open boards
• Reopening a closed board would exceed the 10-board limit
• Premium/Enterprise admin restricted board creation

How to fix it

Try these in order — the most common fix is first.

1. 1. Close boards you no longer use

   1. Open the board > Board menu (•••) > Close board
   2. Closed boards are archived, not deleted, and stop counting toward the limit
   3. Find closed boards later from your Boards page

2. 2. Create a separate free Workspace

   1. The limit is per Workspace, not per account
   2. Create a new Workspace from the Create button and add new boards there

3. 3. Upgrade the Workspace

   1. Standard ($5/user/month annual) and Premium have unlimited boards
   2. Education and nonprofit discounts are available

4. 4. Ask an admin about board-creation restrictions

   1. Press b (board switcher) > select the Workspace > Members to see admins
   2. Admins on Premium/Enterprise can allow members to create boards
