Trello Notifications Not Working

Symptoms

No emails for comments or due dates, push notifications never arrive on phone, desktop notifications missing, emails arrive hours late.

Why it happens

• You're not a member of or watching the card/board
• Email frequency set to periodic (the default)
• You read the notification in Trello before the email was sent
• Trello emails going to spam
• Browser notification permission denied
• Push categories turned off in the mobile app
• No due date reminder set on the card

How to fix it

Try these in order — the most common fix is first.

1. 1. Watch the card, list or board

   1. Open the card > Watch, or Board menu > Watch
   2. Due date notifications also require membership or watching

2. 2. Send a test email

   1. Open trello.com/test_notifications
   2. If it arrives, delivery works and the issue is your settings or filters
   3. If not, check Spam/Junk and mark Trello as not spam

3. 3. Switch email frequency to Instant

   1. Go to trello.com/u/my/account
   2. Change the email notification frequency at the top of the page to Instant

4. 4. Re-enable browser desktop notifications

   1. Chrome/Firefox: click the lock icon in the address bar > Notifications > Allow
   2. Safari: Safari > Preferences > Notifications > find trello.com > Allow
   3. Keep Trello open in a tab

5. 5. Fix mobile push settings

   1. iOS: Trello app > Notifications tab > Settings icon, or iPhone Settings > Notifications > Trello > Trello Notification Settings
   2. Android: Notifications > Settings icon > Push notification settings, then enable categories

6. 6. Set a due date reminder

   1. In the card's Dates option, choose a Reminder — without it no due-date notification is sent

7. 7. Contact support if the test email fails

   1. In some cases an address was blocked on Trello's side and support had to unblock it
