VSCO Blank Import Screen or White Thumbnails
Workaround available iOS Updated October 21, 2026
Quick answer
White or grey thumbnails mean VSCO lost access to the original photos. Give VSCO 'All Photos' access and, after a phone restore, wait until iCloud has fully downloaded your library.
Most likely fix: Allow All Photos access.
Symptoms
The import screen is blank or white, or Studio shows white/grey placeholder thumbnails instead of photos.
Why it happens
- VSCO doesn't have All Photos access
- iCloud backup or photo library hasn't finished downloading after a restore
- Screenshots are no longer supported for editing
How to fix it
Try these in order — the most common fix is first.
1. Allow All Photos access
- Open iOS Settings > VSCO > Photos
- Select All Photos
- Reopen VSCO
2. Let iCloud finish restoring
- Open the Photos app and wait until the library shows no pending downloads
- Keep the phone on Wi-Fi and charging
- Then open VSCO and import again
