1Password Android Autofill Not Working

Workaround available Android Updated October 21, 2026

Quick answer

On Android, autofill fails when 1Password isn't the selected autofill service or when battery optimization kills it. Re-select 1Password as the autofill service and exempt it from battery restrictions.

Most likely fix: Toggle autofill in 1Password.

Symptoms

No 1Password suggestion appears above the keyboard or in login fields, or it works in Chrome but not in other apps.

Why it happens

  • 1Password not set as the system autofill service
  • Aggressive battery savers (e.g. Samsung) disabling 1Password or its Accessibility service
  • Specific apps or browsers that don't support Android Autofill well

How to fix it

Try these in order — the most common fix is first.

  1. 1. Toggle autofill in 1Password

    1. Open 1Password > Settings > Autofill
    2. Turn autofill off and back on
    3. Confirm 1Password is chosen as the system autofill service
  2. 2. Exempt 1Password from battery optimization

    1. Open Android Settings > Apps > 1Password > Battery
    2. Set it to Unrestricted
    3. On Samsung, turn off 'Put unused apps to sleep' and 'Auto-disable unused apps'
  3. 3. Use the long-press fallback

    1. Long-press the username or password field
    2. Tap the three-dot menu > Autofill and choose 1Password
  4. 4. Restart the phone

    1. Restart after changing autofill settings, then retry the login
