1Password Not Syncing Between Devices

Workaround available All platforms Updated October 21, 2026

Quick answer

Most sync failures come from items saved in a local (non-account) vault, being signed in to different accounts, or a pending 2FA/network issue. Confirm every device uses the same 1Password account and check 1Password.com in a browser.

Most likely fix: Check which vault the item is in.

Symptoms

Items added on one device never appear on others, item counts differ between devices and 1Password.com, or changes take a long time to show up.

Why it happens

  • Items stored in a local vault (e.g. 'Primary' from 1Password 7) that never syncs to the account
  • Signed in to different 1Password accounts on different devices
  • Network or firewall blocking 1Password
  • Pending two-factor verification
  • Service-side 1Password 7 sync bug (2026) affecting items edited in v7

How to fix it

Try these in order — the most common fix is first.

  1. 1. Check which vault the item is in

    1. Open the item and look at its vault
    2. Move it from any local vault to a vault in your 1Password account
  2. 2. Confirm the same account on all devices

    1. Open Settings > Accounts on each device
    2. Make sure the same email and sign-in address (my.1password.com or your team subdomain) appear
  3. 3. Compare with 1Password.com

    1. Sign in at 1Password.com in a browser
    2. If items are there, restart the out-of-sync device; if not, the source device hasn't uploaded
  4. 4. Restart and change network

    1. Lock and unlock 1Password, give it a minute after any 2FA prompt
    2. Restart the device or try a different network/cellular
  5. 5. Sign out and back in

    1. Sign out of the account on the problem device
    2. Sign back in with your email, Secret Key and account password
