Capacities Automated Backup Not Running
Workaround available Windows, Mac, Linux Updated October 21, 2026
Quick answer
Capacities' scheduled full export only runs if the app is open at the scheduled time, a file location is selected, and the schedule shows a green 'active' flag. Fix those three and the backup will run.
Most likely fix: Select a file location.
Symptoms
No new backup zip appears in the chosen folder on the expected day.
Why it happens
- Capacities wasn't open at the scheduled time (default 12:00 PM local)
- No file location selected
- Schedule not active
How to fix it
Try these in order — the most common fix is first.
1. Select a file location
- Go to Settings > Full Export > Automated Full Export
- Open your schedule and pick a file location
2. Confirm the schedule is active
- Check for the green 'active' flag in Export settings
- Watch the small indicator at the top right of the window during export
3. Keep Capacities open at the scheduled time
- Note the time (default 12:00 PM; weekly runs Monday, monthly on the 1st)
- Change the time to when your computer is usually on with Capacities open
4. Run a manual export as a fallback
- Settings > Full Export > Manual Full Export
