Dashlane Extension Not Working in Chrome

Workaround available Chrome, Edge, Brave (Windows, Mac, Linux) Updated October 21, 2026

Quick answer

Most often you're logged out of the extension, Chrome's own password manager is interfering, or the extension needs reinstalling. Log in again, turn off Chrome's password saving, and reinstall from the Chrome Web Store if needed.

Most likely fix: Log out and back in.

Symptoms

The Dashlane icon is missing or greyed out, clicking it does nothing, or it shows you as logged out.

Why it happens

  • Logged out of the extension
  • Chrome's built-in 'Offer to save passwords' competing with Dashlane
  • Conflicting extensions (other password managers or security tools)
  • Corrupted or outdated extension after a browser update

How to fix it

Try these in order — the most common fix is first.

  1. 1. Log out and back in

    1. Click the Dashlane icon
    2. Log out, refresh the browser, then log back in with your email and master password
  2. 2. Turn off Chrome's password manager

    1. Open Chrome Settings > Autofill and passwords > Google Password Manager > Settings
    2. Turn off 'Offer to save passwords' and 'Sign in automatically'
  3. 3. Disable conflicting extensions

    1. Open chrome://extensions
    2. Turn off other password managers and security extensions one by one
    3. Restart the browser after each change and test Dashlane
  4. 4. Update Chrome and the extension

    1. Open Chrome menu > Help > About Google Chrome to update
    2. Restart Chrome; extensions update with it
  5. 5. Reinstall the extension

    1. Remove Dashlane from chrome://extensions
    2. Reinstall it from the Chrome Web Store
    3. Log in again
