LumaFusion Export Failed or Crashes During Export

Quick answer

LumaFusion export errors are usually caused by low storage, problem media or speed-adjusted clips. Restart, free space, run Optimize and Consolidate, and if the project has speed changes turn off Use Audio Pre-rendering in Help and Settings.

Most likely fix: Force close and restart.

Symptoms

Export stops with an error message, the app crashes partway through exporting, or exporting to Photos fails while the project plays fine.

Why it happens

  • Not enough free local storage (needed even when exporting to cloud destinations)
  • Clips with speed changes or speed ramps
  • Media that iOS can't decode reliably (action cam, drone, unusual codecs)
  • Outdated LumaFusion or iPadOS/iOS version
  • A problem with the selected export destination

How to fix it

Try these in order — the most common fix is first.

  1. 1. Force close and restart

    1. Force close LumaFusion and any other open apps
    2. Restart the iPad or iPhone
    3. Open the project and export again

  2. 2. Update LumaFusion and iOS

    1. Install the latest LumaFusion from the App Store
    2. Update iOS/iPadOS in Settings > General > Software Update

  3. 3. Free up storage

    1. Check Settings > General > iPad Storage
    2. Delete unused media from LumaFusion's Imported library
    3. Restart the device so iOS releases 'System Data' space

  4. 4. Try a different export destination

    1. If Photos fails, choose Share & AirDrop as the destination
    2. Then save to Files or another app from the share sheet

  5. 5. Optimize and Consolidate the project

    1. Open the Project Manager
    2. Select the project and run Optimize and Consolidate
    3. Export again once it finishes

  6. 6. Fix speed-ramp export errors

    1. Go to Help and Settings > Help
    2. Turn off Use Audio Pre-rendering and export
    3. If it still fails, return to Help and turn on Alternate Speed Ramp Timing, then export

  7. 7. Contact support with details

    1. Use Email Support in the Luma Touch help center
    2. Include LumaFusion version, OS version, device model and a screenshot of the error
