LumaFusion Not Enough Storage Space

Workaround available iPad, iPhone Updated October 21, 2026

Quick answer

LumaFusion copies imported media into its own storage, so it grows fast. Back up old projects as Project Packages, delete unused imported clips, clean cached media in Help and Settings, then restart so iOS releases 'System Data'.

Most likely fix: Archive and delete old projects' media.

Symptoms

LumaFusion warns there isn't enough space, exports fail, or the app uses many gigabytes in iPad Storage. Freed space shows up as System Data instead.

Why it happens

  • Imported media stored inside the app for every project
  • Downloaded cache media not cleaned up
  • iOS holding freed space as System Data until restart

How to fix it

Try these in order — the most common fix is first.

  1. 1. Archive and delete old projects' media

    1. Export old projects with Export > LumaFusion Project Package to cloud or a drive
    2. In the Imported library, select clips no longer used and tap Delete
  2. 2. Use the cleanup options

    1. Open Help and Settings
    2. Turn on Automatic Cache Cleanup
    3. Run Cleanup Unused Cached Media
    4. Only use Cleanup All Cached Media if the sources are still available
  3. 3. Restart to release System Data

    1. Shut down and restart the iPad or iPhone after deleting files
