PowerDirector Features Missing After Update
Ongoing Windows, Mac Updated October 21, 2026
Quick answer
CyberLink removed several tools in 2025-2026: Boris FX plugins, AI Sky Replacement, Magic Movie Wizard, Theme/Particle Designer, AI Style Plugin, Paint/Shape/Sketch Designers and AI Copilot. Downloaded content packs were also moved into new categories.
Most likely fix: Use CyberLink's replacements.
Symptoms
A tool, effect or downloaded template is gone after updating PowerDirector 365.
Why it happens
- Feature officially removed in a 2025-2026 release
- Boris FX contract expired
- Content packs re-categorized
How to fix it
Try these in order — the most common fix is first.
1. Use CyberLink's replacements
- Magic Movie Wizard / Theme Designer: use Auto Edit or Templates room
- Particle, Paint, Shape, Sketch: use the Overlays room
- AI Style Plugin: use GenAI > AI Anime or LUTs/Filters
2. Find moved content packs
- Browse the related tags and categories in each room; downloads were re-sorted
3. Keep an older perpetual version
- If a removed tool is essential, don't update a perpetual install that still has it
