Snapseed Edits Not Showing on Computer or Other Apps
Workaround available iOS, Android Updated October 21, 2026
Quick answer
Photos saved with Save or Save a copy keep Snapseed's non-destructive edit stack, which apps like Lightroom, Image Capture and iPhoto can't read, so they show the unedited original. Use Export to create a flattened JPEG.
Most likely fix: Export a flattened JPEG.
Symptoms
An edited photo looks fine in Snapseed but appears unedited after transferring to a computer, uploading, or opening in another editor.
Why it happens
- Save / Save a copy store edits in a non-destructive format
- Desktop and third-party apps read only the original image data
- Transferring through Image Capture or similar tools that ignore the edit stack
How to fix it
Try these in order — the most common fix is first.
1. Export a flattened JPEG
- In Snapseed open the Export menu
- Choose Export (not Save)
- Transfer the new JPEG from the end of your camera roll
2. Sync through a cloud service
- Upload the photo with Google Drive or Dropbox
- Google says these services flatten the edits during upload so desktop apps can read them
