Snapseed Not Saving Photos
Workaround available iOS, Android Updated October 21, 2026
Quick answer
If Snapseed won't save, it usually lacks full access to your photos or saved the edit somewhere you didn't expect. Give it full Photos/storage access, use Export for a normal JPEG, and check the Snapseed album (DCIM/Snapseed on Android).
Most likely fix: Give Snapseed full photo access.
Symptoms
Tapping Save does nothing, 'Save a copy' is missing from the Export menu, or the edited photo never shows up in the camera roll or gallery.
Why it happens
- Snapseed only has limited or no access to your photo library (iOS 'Selected Photos' or denied)
- The edit was saved with 'Save a copy' into a separate Snapseed album instead of the main camera roll
- On Android the file went to DCIM/Snapseed, which some galleries list at the bottom
- 'Save' wrote the edit onto the original, so no new photo appears
- Not enough free storage on the device
- Outdated Snapseed version
How to fix it
Try these in order — the most common fix is first.
1. Give Snapseed full photo access
- iPhone: Settings > Snapseed > Photos > Full Access (or All Photos)
- Android: Settings > Apps > Snapseed > Permissions > Photos and videos > Allow all
- Reopen Snapseed and export again
2. Use Export instead of Save
- Open the Export menu in Snapseed
- Choose Export to create a flattened JPEG copy at the end of your camera roll
- Use Save / Save a copy only if you want to keep re-editable edits
3. Look in the Snapseed album or folder
- iPhone: Photos > Albums > Snapseed
- Android: open your gallery's Albums or a file manager and check DCIM/Snapseed
4. Free storage and update the app
- Free at least 1 GB on the device
- Update Snapseed from the App Store or Google Play and try saving again
