Snapseed Removes Location Data From Photos
Workaround available iOS, iPadOS Updated October 21, 2026
Quick answer
On iPhone, Snapseed can only copy location and other metadata into the edited photo when it is allowed to use Location Services. Turn Location Services on for Snapseed and edit the photo again.
Most likely fix: Turn on Location Services for Snapseed.
Symptoms
Edited photos lose their location, appear in the wrong place in Photos, or are missing EXIF details the original had.
Why it happens
- Location Services turned off for Snapseed
- Screen Time restrictions blocking Location Services changes
How to fix it
Try these in order — the most common fix is first.
1. Turn on Location Services for Snapseed
- Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services
- Make sure Location Services is on, tap Snapseed and allow access
2. Allow Location Services changes in Screen Time
- Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions > Location Services
- Select Allow Changes
3. Edit the photo again
